Trips

Unknown Samui

Some time ago, in May, we decided to drive around Samui. We do it from time to time, going to the quiet South when we get really tired of the busy North...
So, here I just want to post some pics from that trip and tell you a litle bit about the "unknown" Samui, or maybe less known, less developed, less touristy (practically not touristy at all), less visited and often underrated, but so breathtakingly beautiful...

When you drive towards the South from Nathon - official capital of Samui, then you start seeing very  "real Thailand" areas. There are not many tourists, only those who like to get away from hustle and bustle of their busy life and totally relax on holiday, those who look for a natural beauty, those who appreciate unspoiled nature and want to be part of community, mix with locals, see their daily life, traditions, culture and feel real Thailand.

Our first stop was Lipanoi beach, very beautiful and totally empty... Only a few fishing boats were moored nearby... A very famous beach club Nikki Beach is on Lipanoi beach, but we didn't go there this time, it was only morning...

I found swings :-)......

After Lipanoi, we decided to pop down to one of our favourite restaurants, called Five Islands which is in that area, close to hotel Baan Taling Ngam. Food there is great ( not cheap though), and also they organise very good a few hours trips to the neighbouring five islands. You can see those five islands from the beach - the seaview in this area is excellent.  But again, we came a bit too early, restaurant was still closed, so we took a few pictures and continued our trip.

I am in the jungle...

The roads in the South are so empty, sometimes you are the only car there...Very big difference with the North, where sometimes we get stuck in traffic jams. We took a few pictures again, so you could see what South Samui is about.

Roads look like that :-)

Some very nice big villas can be found in the jungle... Clever people - got away from it all...

Beauty of nature...
Our next stop was a small beach restaurant in Thong Crut where we had a very refreshing coconut shake. I like this place, so peaceful and nice...
The beaches are very shallow in the South, you cannot swim in most of them, but can still enjoy the view.

Hubby is ready to move on... :-)

Our final destination was resort Easy Time, lovely place, lovely friendly owners, lovely Italian food in one of the best Italian restaurants on the island - so we went for lunch there. We have been there before a few times, and it never disappointed...

But this will be my next posting.
